2013 Miracle Ambassador

Age 11 - St. Louis Children's Hospital  Hannah Smith

At age 8, Hannah and her family learned she had Osteosarcoma. She was sent to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for biopsy. Hannah began her chemotherapy treatments in January 2012, and that March she had a rotationplasty on her right leg, a procedure that would allow for her to be fitted with a prosthetic later in 2012. Hannah continued maintenance chemo until October 30, 2012. Unfortunately Hannah’s battle with cancer did not end there.

In January 2013, Hannah was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She completed two rounds of chemo at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and in June 2013 returned to the hospital for a bone marrow transplant.

Unfortunately, Hannah's cancer returned in January of 2014. She is currently recovering from a surgery to remove a nodule on her lung. Despite her struggles, Hannah continues to have a positive attitude and continued support from her family.
