Evie

Spina Bifida
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital
Evie's Story
Diagnosed with a severe form of spina bifida during a 20 week ultrasound, Evie was born with a hole in her back and spine. Only a few hours after birth she was taken into surgery to close the hole.
Having undergone multiple surgeries to fix issues related to her open spine, Evie has overcome a lot and surprises people with her determination and positive outlook. Evie is learning to walk with canes (something thought impossible by doctors), and when she strolls into the room everyone takes notice
Evie is a silly and vibrant girl who loves to talk about her Annie Barbie, who just happens to be named after her favorite Cardinal Glennon nurse practitioner who has been part of her treatment plan from day one. She is a “diva” according to her family and never leaves home without a matching bow and accessories. Her zest for life is contagious.
CMN Funds in Action: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals funds help support the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute. Funds also helped renovate the hospitals PICU and NICU where Evie has stayed while recovering from surgery.
