Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Announces Missouri Representative for Champions Program

May 13, 2011

St. Louis, MO, May 13, 2011 – Children’s Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis will proudly announce that former Miracle Ambassador Christopher Armstrong has been selected by their national organization, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), as Missouri’s representative for their Champions Program. The announcement will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Festus Walmart Supercenter (650 S Truman Blvd., Festus, MO) and local dignitaries will be in attendance.

The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champions program honors remarkable children from the United States and Canada who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges. For their courage and perseverance, these children have been selected as ambassadors to raise awareness for the 17 million kids treated every year at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  This October, the 2011 Champions and their families will travel to meet as a group in Washington, D.C. and Orlando, Fla. For a straight week they’ll do media interviews, meet with Congressmen, rub shoulders with celebrities, visit the Disney Parks, and be celebrated for overcoming life’s toughest battles.

Christopher Armstrong is fighting in a long battle with an extremely rare brain infection called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). The disease is characterized by progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms.  Treated at CMNH partner hospital Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, Christopher is well known for his ever-present smile, great attitude, and ability to make anyone laugh.

Children’s Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis is a local non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for its partner hospitals, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.  CMN funds are shared equally by both hospitals and benefit patient services, new programs, and equipment that aid in helping improve the lives of hospitalized children.
