Danielle Aubuchon
2006 Miracle Ambassador
Age 20 - SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center
Thirteen years old, Danielle had proudly never missed a day of school until one day in February 2005, when she wasn't feeling well and had to be picked up from school. The next day, she visited her pediatrician only to be immediately sent to SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.
At Cardinal Glennon, Danielle was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The next six days were a blur, as doctors performed spinal taps and tests on her bone marrow, blood, and platelets. She received chemotherapy treatment during her induction phase, and was soon in remission thanks to the amazing doctors at Cardinal Glennon.
It was a long journey, but Danielle did everything she could to stay involved and on top of her school work, and was even inducted into the National Junior Society just months after her diagnosis. She was lucky to not lose her hair during treatment, but chose to help those that weren't as lucky and donated 15 inches of her hair to Locks of Love!
On September 19, 2007, Danielle officially finished treatment and no longer needed medication. During high school, she remained on the honor roll and marched with Fort Zumwalt North High School in the Holiday Bowl, where they won first place overall in the field show competition.
Though Danielle is almost finished with college, she still stays involved with the CMN St. Louis family and comes to many of our events. She can't wait to finish college and pursue her dreams!
